Embodiment Coaching - Chi For Two® Method

Chi for Two® Embodiment Coaching for Women in Midlife

“There is a wild and natural creature within every woman… All things long to be wild and free.”
— Clarissa Pinkola Estés

Women are often taught to silence their bodies, restrict their movement, and perform a version of themselves that is acceptable to others—through the pressures of diet culture, white supremacy culture, patriarchy, and broader social conditioning.

Over time, these messages can live in the body as tension, inhibited movement, shallow breathing, a constricted voice, and a subtle sense of being disconnected from your authentic self.

Chi for Two® Embodiment Coaching helps highly sensitive and creative women gently release these patterns and reconnect with their natural vitality, movement, and expression.

This work invites you to move beyond the dutiful self you learned to perform and return to the deeper intelligence of your body—where choice, creativity, and authenticity live.

Why This Work Matters Now

This work is for creative women in midlife who want to:

  • Release inhibited movement and tension held in the body

  • Reconnect with natural breath, rhythm, and energy

  • Break free from familial and cultural messages that have constrained their expression

  • Reclaim the power of their voice and speak their truth more freely in the world

  • Cultivate self-trust, creativity, and embodied presence

  • Apply newfound empowered energy to make a meaningful impact in the world

Embodiment is not just personal— it’s revolutionary. When you reclaim your body and expression, you reclaim your voice, your confidence, and the energy to contribute to your communities, your art, and your life purpose.

Signs Your Body Is Asking for Embodiment Work

You might feel drawn to embodiment coaching if you notice:

  • Your body often feels tight, restricted, or held back in subtle ways
    • You feel disconnected from your natural movement, creativity, or vitality
    • You’ve spent much of your life being the responsible, good, or dutiful one
    • You notice yourself holding your breath, bracing, or containing your energy
    • Cultural messages about bodies, productivity, and self-control have shaped how you move and show up
    • You sense there is more life, expression, and freedom available in your body, but you’re not sure how to access it
    • You feel a longing to live with more authenticity, voice, and presence in the world

Many highly sensitive and creative people learn to contain their natural energy in order to belong. Over time, that containment can show up in the body as inhibition, tension, or a subtle feeling of being disconnected from yourself.

Embodiment Coaching offers a supportive space to begin listening to the body again.

What is Embodiment Coaching

Embodiment Coaching is a body-centered personal growth process that works with the body’s natural movement intelligence.

Using the Chi for Two Embodiment Method, sessions explore breath, movement, sensation, voice work and awareness to gently release patterns of holding that formed through life experiences and cultural conditioning.

As movement and breath become freer, many people experience:

  • Increased vitality and energy

  • Greater emotional expression and authenticity

  • Deeper self-trust

  • Renewed creativity and inspiration

  • A stronger sense of connection to their body

  • Mobilization to bring change to the world

This work is particularly powerful for highly sensitive and creative women in midlife who are ready to live with greater authenticity and embodied presence.

From Dutiful Self to True Self

Many highly sensitive and creative women learn early in life how to become the Dutiful Self.

The Dutiful Self develops in response to the messages we receive from family, culture, and systems of power—messages about who we should be, how our bodies should look, how much space we should take up, and how acceptable it is to express emotion, pleasure, anger, or joy.

Diet culture teaches us to control and shrink our bodies.
White supremacy culture reinforces perfectionism, productivity, and disconnection from the body’s natural rhythms.
Patriarchal expectations often reward women for being accommodating, self-sacrificing, and contained.

Over time, the body learns to comply.

Movement becomes smaller. Breath becomes restricted. Energy that once flowed naturally begins to organize itself around being appropriate, productive, and acceptable.

The dutiful self is not a failure—it is a brilliant survival strategy that helped you navigate the environments you were in.

But many people reach a moment—often in midlife—when the body begins to ask for something more.

More freedom.
More authenticity.
More aliveness.

Through embodiment work, the body is gently invited to rediscover movements, sensations, and expressions that may have been inhibited or forgotten.

As these pathways reopen, many people experience a shift from performing the dutiful self toward inhabiting their Authentic Self.

The authentic self is not something you have to construct or achieve.
It is something your body already knows.

    • Guided movement, art and sound expression exploration through the four emanations of embodiment:

      • Navel Radiation

      • Contralateral Movements

      • Gesture

      • Handling practices

    • Noticing and releasing patterns of tension or inhibition inside and in relationship

    • Increaseing your range of expression

    • Integrating a more expressed Authentic Self into everyday life

There is no pressure to perform or “do it right.” The body leads the way.

What Clients Often Experience

As people reconnect with their embodied self, they often notice:

• A deeper sense of comfort and belonging in their body
• More freedom in movement, breath, voice and expression
• Increased creativity and vitality
• Greater confidence in their voice and boundaries
• A renewed connection to intuition and inner guidance
• More energy available for meaningful relationships, creative work, and purpose

When the body is no longer organized around containment, that previously held energy becomes available for living, creating, and contributing in the world.

Coaching vs. Therapy

Embodiment Coaching is not psychotherapy or mental health treatment.

While Heidi Andersen is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Chi for Two Embodiment Coaching is offered as a separate, non-clinical service focused on personal growth, movement exploration, and embodied self-expression.

Coaching does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions and is not a substitute for therapy.
