Somatic Psychotherapy
Your body as a resource for discovery, connection and healing
Are you tired of understanding your patterns but still feeling stuck in them?
Somatic therapy is a journey toward deeper embodiment
Our approach may incorporate:
Somatic Internal Family Systems (Somatic IFS)
nervous system & polyvagal informed support
sensory awareness, breath, movement, yoga
developmental movements and embodied exploration
curiousity, compassion & building capacity for resilience
Somatic therapy in Asheville, NC brings your body into the conversation.
Sometimes we understand why we feel or respond a certain way, yet insight alone doesn't create the shift we're longing for.
You may know you're safe, but your body remains braced. You may understand your patterns and still find yourself shutting down, becoming overwhelmed, disconnecting, or returning to familiar ways of coping.
Rather than seeing your responses as symptoms to eliminate, we become curious about what your nervous system, sensations, movements, emotions, and protective patterns might be communicating.
In somatic therapy, we may explore how to...
notice and understand the signals, sensations, and patterns within your body
develop greater capacity to stay connected to yourself during difficult emotions and experiences
explore protective responses with curiosity and compassion rather than judgment
experience boundaries, agency, choice, and connection in new ways
reconnect with pleasure, play, rest, movement, and aliveness

We can also help you file your claims and chase down reimbursement. Most of our clients are reimbursed 60-80% of their session fees after they have paid their deductible.
-
Having a private pay therapist means that you will have more control over your treatment. You will not receive a mental health diagnosis and your session notes will not be submitted to an outside third party. We will be able to freely work together in a way that honors your unique situation.
