The Intersection of Internal Family Systems and Reclaiming Beauty

I was recently interviewed by the delightful Tammy Sollenberger on The One Inside Podcast.

In this episode we discuss:

  • Body image, self-approval and eating disorders

  • Defining reclaiming beauty as returning to our authentic Self when safety, compassion and curiosity are present

  • Self approval as allowing ourselves to have boundaries and space from what other people are reflecting which helps us know, be and reflect our own authentic Self, our Original Beauty

  • The part of us who obsesses about the body actually uses it as a distraction from an exile (a younger, vulnerable part). The body obsessed part can be a firefighter.

  • Eating disorders and common beliefs of exiles and common protector strategies.

  • Personal stories of being called 'Sensitive' and wondering what would be different if we/others/society valued this quality as a superpower, a gift to be treasured.

And did you know, there is a Reclaiming Beauty Wisdom Deck card that was inspired by the Internal Family Systems Model and the idea that “All parts are welcome.”

I would love to hear your thoughts on Internal Family Systems and Reclaiming Beauty. Share a comment below!
