Beauty Way: Practices for Reclaiming Beauty

From Guest Contributor, Lizzy Zima

Note from Heidi: I have been feeling very supported by Lizzy Zima’s online creations full of embodiment practices. Lizzy’s offerings are very aligned with Reclaiming Beauty and the belief that embodiment heals. Lizzy blends breathwork, strength training, nervous system regulation, meditation, EFT, shaking, stretching, and dance parties with the coolest music to create a fun and wise shift towards deeper embodiment. I wanted to invite Lizzy to share some of her wisdom here - Enjoy!

Reclaiming beauty means reclaiming our original innocence, our true worthiness & our deep belonging with life; with ourselves, with nature, with each other, and with all of creation.  It is the belief in our separation & our unworthiness (and the repetition of this unresolved trauma) that is making us sick and causing the destruction & devastation that we see unfolding on our planet at this time. When we remember that we matter, that we are one planet & one people, and that what harms us, also harms the collective & vice versa; our behaviors and how we treat ourselves & others begin to change too.

When was the last time you laid bare feet to the earth & let yourself receive just how deeply loved you are by all of creation?

When was the last time you let yourself rest when you were tired?

Healing our planet requires healing our relationship to ourselves, to earth & to all that is. It requires living in harmony with our true nature and accepting that our life matters. This revolution (and body-mind repatterning) happens every time we choose to deeply honor ourselves & reclaim just how worthy we truly are. This includes resting when our body is tired, eating when we’re hungry, speaking up for our boundaries, and moving towards what lights us up & supports our vitality and fulfillment. This means remembering that how we treat ourselves today matters, and having daily practices that help us stay attuned with the needs and inner guidance of our body, our heart, and our soul.

When we are anchored in our belonging, worth & wellbeing, we naturally rise up to express our gifts in service to greater collective healing and empowerment.

At the heart of my work as a fitness professional & somatic trauma healing practitioner, is the prayer that we may release the shame, unworthiness & separation that we’ve been carrying (as a byproduct of being raised in a consumer driven, patriarchal society); so that we may rise up to embody our greatest love, power & purpose in service to the rebalancing of our world.

My music-driven classes & daily embodiment practices combine somatic tools for nervous system regulation & emotional resilience with functional strength training & intuitive, pleasure-based movement and self-love, to promote physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing.

I’d love to share my EMPOWER Body Mind Soul: Beauty Way Breathwork practice with you today to help you reconnect with your body, your belonging, and your worth. This activating & energizing practice includes 3 rounds of rhythmic, circular breathing with 30 second breath holds.  *If you are pregnant or experiencing severe PTSD, please skip the breath holds.

Remember, we are cultivating the practice of self-attunement and self-honoring, so please be responsible for adjusting the length of the circular breathing & breath holds to meet your needs in the moment.  If you are experiencing anxiety/sympathetic activation, please take this practice very easy; let the inhales be gentle, through the nose & let the exhales be extended longer, through the mouth.

This is your practice, and an excellent opportunity to practice staying connected to the sensations in your body, giving yourself what you need & celebrating yourself for showing up for your selfcare, no matter how it looks! *This is how we reclaim our worth, our power & our beauty!
